Fort Myers, Florida rapper Plies is at the center of a lawsuit, which claims he stole several songs from an upcoming rapper.
David Lee Sessions a.k.a. Stackks filed the lawsuit this week in the United States District Court, for the middle District of Florida, Orlando division.
According to the lawsuit, Stackks had a buzz around 2009, with a regional hit record titled "Jellybean."
While he was recording at Polk Brothers Studios, he met a promoter named Cornelius M. Davis, who also worked for Plies, Gucci Mane, Pastor Troy and others.
The two men decided to work together, with Stackks recorded his songs for Davis' Behind Bars Records imprint.
The lawsuit claims that several of the songs sessions recorded at Polk Brothers Studios were stolen by Plies and turned into hit records for various songs on his albums.
Stackks claims Plies, born Algernod Washington, stole the track “My Medicine,” which has over 5,000,000 YouTube views and has sold in excess of 100,000 downloads.
Other songs that Stackks says are stolen include the song “Leggo,” “Trap,” “self,” and “All I Know.”
David Lee Sessions a.k.a. Stackks, is seeking an injunction against the sale of the infringing works, and accounting for all gains and profits, as well as damages that have yet to be determined.
