Pharrell Williams On 'God Only Knows,' BBC Charity Single

One of pop music’s greatest hits has been given the all-star treatment.

A bevy of music’s biggest stars, including Lorde, Pharrell Williams, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and One Direction, came together to record a cover of the Beach Boys’ classic, “God Only Knows.”

Released by BBC Music on Tuesday, the song and accompanying music video features the 80-piece BBC Concert Orchestra and 27 music artists described as an “impossible orchestra.”

They include Florence Welch, Kylie Minogue, Elton John, Dave Grohl, Sam Smith, Stevie Wonder, Chrissie Hynde, Queen’s guitarist Brian May and the song’s legendary singer and songwriter, Brian Wilson.

The all-star version of “God Only Knows” is also being released as a charity single for the BBC Children in Need campaign.

Wilson seems pleased with the cover, telling The Guardian, “All of the artists did such a beautiful job I can’t thank them enough.”

“I’m just honored that ‘God Only Knows’ was chosen,” he added. “‘God Only Knows’ is a very special song ... and one of the best I’ve ever written.”
