Legendary producer Pete Rock and veteran rap group Camp Lo have announced they are forming a new group named 80 Blocks From Tiffany's, in tribute of the 1979 movie about gang culture in the Bronx.
Pete Rock and Camp Lo recognized their studio chemistry after Pete Rock was featured on Camp Lo's track "On Smash," which featured Yonkers, New York rap star, Styles P.
Pete Rock also produced tracks on Camp Lo's recent release "The Tiffany Blue Mixtape" and collaborated with the group on the "80 Blocks from Tiffany's" mixtape with DJ Trackstar and DJ Mark Divita.
The mixtapes further proved the chemistry between Pete Rock and Bronx-bred Camp Lo group members, Gucci Suede and Sonny Cheeba, who are now working on a 14-track album that will be released later this year.
"By the time you reach the end you won't feel like you just finished listening to Camp Lo and Pete Rock, but like you've just experienced a trip 80 Blocks from Tiffany’s," Pete Rock told AllHipHop.com in a statement.
According to Pete Rock, the group 80 Blocks From Tiffany's will salute the Bronx with a self-titled debut that will look at the styles and art the influenced the early days of Hip-Hop culture.
The download of the mixtape is available via the official website
