The New York Super Bowl is still years away, but the Super Bowl of hip hop touched down Sunday at the New Meadowlands Stadium.
The new home of the Giants and Jets - and the site of the 2014 Super Bowl - was bumping as some of rap's biggest names took to the stage for Summer Jam 2010.
The annual rap spectacular, sponsored by Hot 97, featured Harlem rapper Juelz Santana, Brooklyn's Fabolous and Ludacris.
Fans sported "Free Weezy" T-shirts in honor of jailed Lil Wayne. Meanwhile, Lil Wayne's protégés Drake and Nicki Minaj were among the big names on the bill at the new $1.6 billion stadium in East Rutherford.
Santana was joined on stage during his set by Brooklyn rapper Maino, who performed "Get 'Em Tiger," a tune with references to swinging golf great Tiger Woods.
Fabolous and Santana also performed together.
The concert was also a big night for one local success story.
St. John's University alum J. Cole, an up-and-coming rapper, performed in a preshow concert in the parking lot and signed autographs for fans.
He has already made a name for himself with a feature on "Star Is Born" by Jay-Z.
The concert was billed as "The Future," and rightly so. Drake, Minaj and J. Cole have yet to release official albums.
Summer Jam first arrived on the local scene in 1995, and has been headlined by megastars such as the Notorious B.I.G., the Wu Tang Clan, 50 Cent, Fat Joe and Mary J. Blige.
