PEPA IS LOOKING FOR A MIGHTY GOOD MAN ON HER NEW REALITY SHOW!

Sandra Denton is looking for a mighty good man.
Off the market for over four years, Denton, better known as “Pepa” of the hip-hop duo Salt-n-Pepa — is looking to get back in the dating game, and she’s doing it in front of the camera. Her latest reality show, “Let’s Talk About Pep," which premieres tomorrow night at 10:30 on VH1, follows her adventures dating in New York City with three of her single girlfriends: journalist Jacque Reid; Joumana Kidd, the former model and ex-wife of basketball star Jason Kidd, and radio personality Kali Troy, aka Kittie.

While the Queens native may be looking for Prince Charming, don’t expect your average fairy tale.

Four years is quite a while to go without dating or sex. Why did you wait so long?

It was a feeling that just came over me four years ago. I wasn’t happy with some of the choices I made in my relationships, and things I had allowed to happen to me and that I had settled for. I wanted to take the time to reflect. I knew dating would confuse the situation, and wouldn’t give me time to soul-search and just get to know me. So I stopped dating totally — no sex — and then just within the last year, because it’s going on five years now, I was ready.

What made you want to get back in the game?

The Super Bowl. Joumana Kidd and I went to the Super Bowl last year, and I will never forget, wooo, all those boys! After that, I wanted to go out — and I wanted to meet some guys and start going out on dates.

Are you having fun dating?

I learned to just enjoy a date. Some dates are not going to be the man you’re going to marry, but I learned how to just go on a date and have fun. Before I was like, “You’re either going to be mine or not." I wouldn’t even go on a date before if they weren’t husband material. But I just wanted to get my feet wet, have some laughs and enjoy the company of a man.

How is New York as a dating scene?

New York City is fast and never sleeps, so it’s a great place to date. Some places close early, like L.A., but New York stays open. And in New York you get a good assortment of men.

What can you tell us about the assortment of men you date on the show?

I went on a date outside my race — and that was a hot date, honey. I enjoyed the date, how about that? That’s where I’m at now. I’m proud of myself because I’ve come so far in being open to meeting other people. I had never done that before — not that I was against it — I was just with the brothers.

Any favorite date spots in the city?

New York has so many great restaurants and bars. I love Telepan on the upper West Side and the Gansevoort Rooftop in the Meatpacking District.

On one of my dates on the show, we went for sushi. I love sushi, but on this one date we tried sea urchin and he was less adventurous but he tried it. And I liked that. That’s important to me — someone who is willing to try something at least once. We were both looking at our plates like, “Okay, ready?" And it was not good. I ate it, but it would not be a dish I would order again.

What are you looking for in a man?

I’m a working woman and so shall he be, a working man. He has to love my kids, know my kids are in my life. He has to know me, understand me and respect me. He has to have spontaneity, laugh, have fun and like to talk a lot. You can’t sit in front of the TV while I’m trying to talk.

It’s about the little things; if I’m carrying something, ask if you can help, if I’m about to change a light bulb, say, “Baby, I got that” — and he opens the door for me. Us working women, because of where we’re at now and what we didn’t get before, I was opening the door for guys — I was the man in the relationship, and no more of that.

I’m not settling this time around and I won’t make any excuse up for a man.

So you are four single girls dating in New York City, and on the show you all debrief about your dating adventures over brunch. Sounds familiar.

It is “Sex and the City” but with all black chicks. And this is more real. Joumana is just having fun right now because she’s fresh off a divorce. I’m looking for love, and Jacque is contemplating having a kid with or without love. I think a lot of women will identify with this show.
