Paula Patton Accuses Robin Thicke Of Child Abuse For Spanking Their Son

A Los Angeles judge has slapped down Paula Patton’s request to limit Robin Thicke’s interaction with their son Julian amid claims of child abuse.

“The court finds there is insufficient showing of great or irreparable harm, immediate danger or any other statutory basis for granting relief,” Judge Colin Leis said in his Thursday order obtained by the Daily News.

Patton had asked the court to overhaul her ex-husband's access to their son so he received only monitored daytime visits with the 6-year-old boy instead of his regular Thursday to Sunday block of overnights.

In her filing, she accused Thicke of “excessive spanking” – a claim that Julian also relayed to his Malibu school on Jan. 3, according to court paperwork.

“Over the past year, I have become concerned about (Thicke’s) drinking and drug use, as well as the forms of punishment he is using to discipline Julian,” Patton wrote in her declaration to the court.

“On January 2, 2017, the day before Julian was to return to school from Christmas break, Julian told my mother and me that when (Thicke) spanked him it was really hard,” Patton said.

Patton said she asked Julian to hit her on the back to show her how hard, and he struck her with surprising force.

“Julian said it was worse than that. I then told Julian that I could not keep this secret anymore, and that I have to protect him. He became angry and tense and yelled at me that if I told, he would never tell me anything about (his dad) again,” she wrote.

Patton claimed Thicke showed up to Julian’s Kindergarten graduation last June “clearly intoxicated” and that their son told her he put a “curse” on Thicke so he would “throw up” if he had more than five drinks.

Julian's spanking accusation triggered an investigation by Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, the paperwork states.

Patton said stress over the saga caused Julian to develop a slight stutter and scratch himself uncontrollably.

The “Blurred Lines” singer, meanwhile, told a judge Wednesday that Patton told him in a text message on Jan. 5 that Julian “is scared of you.”

Thicke, however, claimed his spanking was infrequent and an agreed-upon method of punishment.

“On a very rare occasion and only as a last resort, I will use light spanking, but it is consistent with the law — open hand on the butt,” Thicke said in a court declaration.

“This is the type of discipline to which Paula and I agreed during our marriage. I have never exceeded age-appropriate discipline, and thus never been an issue, nor has it been raised by Paula previously.”

Thicke also claimed his ex-wife “holds residual anger” toward him because she wasn’t invited to the funeral of his father, Alan Thicke, last year.

Patton and Thicke were married in 2005 after meeting in 1991 when he was just 14 years old.

They separated in February 2014 and the divorce was finalized in March 2015.
