Our Discovery Of The Day Goes By The Name Of "KING GEMS" A Real One!!

Hip hop is a force in the music industry, with some arguing the genre has been the most influential one in modern history. That’s not only due to the staying power of the music but the genre’s ability to shift, change, and evolve thanks to artists like King Gems. Blending soulful ways with hip hop, this Danville native is looking to make his own influential, lasting impression. King Gems has never been without music in his life. Growing up around a lot of negative aspects, music was the shining light in an otherwise dim reality. Whether it was the pop of Michael Jackson or the rhymes of Tupac Shakur, he was always surrounded by the comfort of sound. As he got older, he not only leaned on music for comfort but started to realize that he had a gift. With that, he started rapping in local clubs and eventually grew his name in the underground scene.

All of that hard work eventually led to his recent signing with Limelight Records. What Limelight saw in King Gems was an artist meant for not only the top of the charts but as someone who could provide great music for a lifetime. In 2018 King Gems dropped “I Ain’t Scared of Nobody.” A song that allowed him to plant his feet in the ground and stand tall. It was his introduction to the world and a bold one at that. This year, he has found success with “Real One.” King Gems let his imagination run wild with this one, and in the end, he notes that this is more than a mere song - it’s a vibe, a feeling. Many agree as it was added to the Urban Influencer Chart alongside the likes of Action Bronson, Black Soprano, and Jabee. “Real One” has also been settling in nicely on playlists across the country spinning on Rex XM in Los Angeles, WDOM in Houston, The Zone 88.1 in Miami, and beyond.

With his reach growing everyday singles such as “No They Don’t Care” will be a perfect addition to the music realm as it highlights the modern day experience of Black Americans. In a time where racial tensions are higher than ever due to the current leader of the so-called free world, King Gems could not sit by silently. He took pen to paper and created a song that explored the Black American experience in a sort of homage to Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Really Care About Us,” about the constant discrimination Black Americans face when it comes to their interactions with police. Interactions that often end with an unarmed Black person becoming yet another trending hashtag. King Gems plans to not only be a key player in the here and now, but for years to come. He is working to keep his name in the present, but to create a lasting legacy.
