Romanian model Ioana Spangenberg is so little in the middle that a British tabloid has dubbed her “The Human Hourglass.”
Spangenberg, 30, said her 20-inch waist comes by way of Mother Nature and not by dieting.
"When I was 13 my waist was around 15 inches,” she told The Sun. “Someone could put their hands around it, their fingers would touch and they would still have extra room."
Her freakish physique was hardly in demand, she said. Growing up, dates were hard to come by.
"In Romania it is better to be overweight, because that means you are from a wealthy family,” she said.
The 5-foot-7 Spangenberg found success online modeling her extreme figure with corsets but sighs over the fact that she can’t seem to put on just a few pounds. She blames her “small stomach” and not her eating habits.
“I would still like to gain weight so I don't look so shocking,” she said. “Now that I live in Germany I can't get enough pizza or kebabs.”
While Spangenberg’s reported 32-20-32 measurements may look bizarre, they’re actually a common sight — for girls who play with Barbie dolls.
If made to be life-size, the Mattel doll has been estimated to have an unrealistic and unhealthy 36-18-33 silhouette.
