A leopard on the loose mauled six people in the Indian village of Prakash Nagar in a terrifying man vs. beast incident on Tuesday.
The spotted leopard strayed into the village and was caught on camera attacking a local forest guard, an AFP/Getty Images photographer reported.
The photos snapped show dozens of villagers watching in horror as officials try to control the large animal.
Officials said the cat was wandering through a densely populated part of the city when curious crowds scared it, sending it into attack mode.
It took officials several attempts to tranquilize the fully grown animal. It eventually slipped into unconsciousness in an alleyway after a guard finally hit it with a tranquilizer dart.
Prakash Nagar is located in a section of India between Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan.
