MTV has announced that Nicki Minaj will open Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.
Minaj herself teased the announcement on social media Thursday with an image of a sonogram showing a VMA Moonman statuette, a sly reference to recent rumors that she was pregnant.
(She has since deleted the post, but the image was also included in the network press release.)
The 32-year-old’s VMAs performance caps off an eventful summer for the celeb, including making headlines for speaking out about “Anaconda” getting snubbed for Video of the Year, leading to a brief Twitter flap involving Taylor Swift.
And VMAs host Miley Cyrus recently offered her take on Minaj’s anger over her VMAs snub, telling the New York Times that the rapper was “not very polite” and should have spoken out with “openness and love.”
Minaj has not yet addressed the "Wrecking Ball" singer's comments, but she did tantalize fans with a tweet about her upcoming VMAs set, writing Thursday night, "VMA Rehearsals were fun."
Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Pharrell Williams are also set to perform at this year’s show.
The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards will air Sunday at 8 p.m.
