Nicki Minaj designed her new Fendi line with curvy girls in mind.
“I want to make clothes that make girls with my body look sexy,” Minaj, 36, told Elle in an interview discussing her upcoming collaboration with the Italian luxury label, aptly dubbed “Fendi Prints On” after a lyric from her song “Chun-Li.”
“We’re in a new time, where you don’t have to feel bad if you’re not the tiniest you’ve ever been. Women, we struggle with that so much, because we’ll go back to old pictures of ourselves, and we’ll be like, ‘I used to be so skinny!,’ and we start making ourselves feel bad.”
Continued the rapper: “What I want [to tell] girls is not necessarily, ‘Go and gain weight and have a big booty,’ but ‘If you do have curves, be proud of it, flaunt it — love the skin you’re in.’”
And considering the items included in the range, like skimpy silver bikinis, one-shouldered bodysuits, see-through fishnet frocks and hot pink body-con dresses (all covered in Fendi’s double F logo, of course), it’s clear that Minaj’s designs aren’t meant for the modest.
“[It’s] for everyone who wants to show skin,” she explained. “We all go to the beach, we all get sexy, we all have sex, we all bust it open!”
Minaj’s Fendi Prints On hits Fendi.com on Oct. 14, and will be stocked at Fendi stores starting Oct. 16.
