Nicki Minaj has given her blessing to Gov. Andrew Cuomo just one day before his primary battle for the Democratic nomination with Cynthia Nixon.
The Queens-born rap star tweeted to her 20 million followers that voters in the state, especially NYCHA residents, should cast their vote for the incumbent in Thursday’s election.
“New Yorkers & all NYCHA residents its time to get JUSTICE, VOTE Thur. Sept. 13 for Gov. Cuomo, Lt. Gov. Hochul & Tish James,” the “Superbass” singer wrote on Wednesday.
“They know how to work for the people to make NY even GREATER. Spread the word. See you at the Polls.”
A Cuomo spokesperson was enthusiastic about receiving support from the rap superstar.
“We’re thrilled to have the endorsement of the undisputed queen of hip-hop,” the spokesperson, Lis Smith, said. “As Nicki would say, Andrew Cuomo looks like yes, and Cynthia Nixon looks like no.”
Meanwhile, ’90s hip-hop legend Sean Combs threw his support behind Letitia James in the Democratic primary for attorney general.
“Tish James has a chance to be the first women (sic) of color to be New York Attorney General,” he wrote on Instagram. “She’s from New York and understands what’s going on in our communities.”
