“Money Can't Buy” singer Ne-Yo, who has alleged his ex-manager Kevin Foster cheated him out of $4.5 million, is now suing Citibank, saying the financial institution is also to blame.
Ne-Yo, whose legal name is Shaffer Smith, claimed in a July 2014 lawsuit that Foster, whom the artist had hired to manage his financials, mishandled and stole millions.
Foster even forged Ne-Yo's name on loan documents — and then pocketed the money, the lawsuit alleges.
A day before Ne-Yo sued Foster, however, Citi filed a suit against the singer for, what he alleges, are solely his ex-manager's misdeeds.
Ne-Yo contends that Citi should have had measures in place to stop the mishandling and forgery.
A judge recently decided that Ne-Yo could counter-sue the bank on these allegations.
“What Citibank did to Ne-Yo is beyond outrageous,” his lawyer, Richard Roth, told The News.
“As the complaint alleges, they essentially allowed foster to loot Shaffer for several years,” he said.
