N.O.R.E. Confirms Someone In Jail Had Prodigy’s Mural Defaced

While Prodigy‘s recent death came as a huge shock to the hip-hop community and his loved ones, the defacing of his mural in Queensbridge came as an even bigger shock. Earlier this month, the mural to honor the late Mobb Deep rapper was defaced overnight, but after being cleaned up, it was defaced once again within the same week, leading to it being erased and painted over completely. Many are still outraged by the incident, but N.O.R.E. has some more answers as to who did it and why.

Sitting down for an interview with the Breakfast Club, the Drink Champs host addresses the mural defacement, confirming that someone in jail had Prodigy’s artistic tribute destroyed.

“I’m not qualified to speak on that,” N.O.R.E. explains to the hosts. “But it came from a big homie that’s in jail that don’t have nothing. I know you always pick [up] Prodigy’s book, but Prodigy’s book hurt a lot of people. Dead, in jail, alive, and the guy that’s up north, he’s a respectable guy. Everybody respects it. He sent the word and it’s official.”

Even though he did not give away a name as to who he was talking about, the “Issues” rapper did say that a lesson we should take from the incident is “that we should try to be better at life.”

In the interview, N.O.R.E also talks about how he met the late Queens veteran MC, as well as the details behind his Pharrell collaborations, as the two got back in the studio together this year.
