A nanny was charged with trying to poison lingerie and sex toy tycoon Jacqueline Gold by lacing her food with windshield washer fluid.
Allison Cox, a 33-year old Sussex woman, was hired by the Ann Summers head executive to take care of her small children – twins Alfie and Scarlett – who were born last year. Alfie died at just eight months from a severe brain condition.
Despite the tragedy, Cox stayed on staff – until Gold noticed that food prepared by her chef tasted strange. After complaining to the cook that her soup was "disgusting," Gold ordered checks that revealed the broth contained the chemical, according to British newspaper The Sun.
Gold is said to be shocked by the nanny-gone-wrong.
"She had such a good relationship with the nanny," a friend told The Sun.
Known as an incredibly savvy businesswoman, Gold is said to be worth about $277.8 million, making her the 16th richest woman in Britain, according to the Daily Mail.
She's the daughter of David Gold, a well-known businessman who made his fortune with Ann Summers as well as pornographic magazine company Gold Star Publications. He's also a part owner of the famed soccer team West Ham United.
Known to be anything but a simple heiress, Jacqueline Gold made her fortune when she took over for her father, creator of Ann Summers, and transformed the company with Ann Summers house parties, boosting sales and opening more stores with thousands of employees across Europe, according to her website.
One of those employees, however, seemed to be less than impressed with her high-powered boss.
Cox is scheduled to appear in court on January 5.
