Miguel Denies Speculation That He Had a Baby With Another Woman While He Was Married

Miguel wasn't timid when discussing his 1-year-old son, Angelito, during his visit on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (October 14). Last month, the Caos singer revealed in an Instagram post that he welcomed his son with former Vogue China editor Margaret Zhang last year. The announcement sparked concerns for some, as they felt there was overlap between Miguel's relationship with Zhang and his split with model Nazanin Mandi, whom he divorced in 2022 after four years of marriage. The exes were on-and-off for nearly eighteen years of dating. Miguel shared that he needs "healing" to fall in love again and said that he's "working" on reestablishing love for himself to benefit his son. "But I love myself more and more every day, because I'm I'm proud of the decisions that I've been making," Miguel said, adding that he hopes to "be in love again. The Breakfast Club co-host Loren Lorosa interjected to ask the "Sky Walker" artist how he feels about those who were "upset" that he had a baby with Zhang, not his ex-wife. "Well, it's not new. Definitely not new to me," Miguel explained. "It's been a long time since I've kind of been so to kind of come out and to kind of have an experience where people, you know, feel the need to express how they feel about your life. It was a good reminder coming in." Miguel added that he made the decision to reveal his son with "so much intention," and said he's "proud to be a father." "I'm proud of my partner. She's incredible. He couldn't have a better mother. And life doesn't always happen the way that we imagine things to happen," he continued. The singer expressed that his marriage to Mandi was a "symbol" to some about what "relationships could be," but added that they were "human beings" who were "mad young. "Like, I was coming up in my twenties, you know what I mean?" he stressed. "So I did a lot of things the wrong way, you know? And I'm not proud of them and I'm not making excuses, but come on, man. We've all done things that we're like, 'You know what? I wouldn't do that again like that. I would actually do it again like this.'" He continued, "And I'm good with being upfront about, 'Hey, I wasn't perfect,' you know, 'But I'm here now and my life has a lot more of a different experience that I get to show up in a better way.'" Miguel went on to voice his frustration with those who tried to estimate the time between his divorce from Mandi and Zhang's pregnancy. "I have to say this, the fucked-up part is that people start doing the wrong math. The one thing I did not do is is start a relationship while I was married and then had a baby," he revealed. "I got divorced–and I'm going to say this straight up–Everybody out there talking shit like I was still in a marriage and then I had a baby or I was having an affair all this time. I met my son's mom after we were divorced. I met her at an event that we were not even supposed to go to. That was well after we were done." At the time of Miguel's Instagram dedication to Angelito, it was unclear how long he'd been partnered with Zhang, who directed the visual, which showed the child's face blurred.
