First Lady Michelle Obama revealed Wednesday that she’s enlisted Zendaya, Missy Elliott, Kelly Clarkson, Lea Michelle and Janelle Monae to record a charity single to educate girls globally.
The empowering anthem “This Is For My Girls” dropped on iTunes on Wednesday for $1.29. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Peace Corps Let Girls Learn Fund as part of FLOTUS’s #62MillionGirls campaign to benefit the young women around the world without access to education.
"I see myself in these girls - in their ambition and their determination to rise above their circumstances," Obama wrote in the Lenny newsletter on Wednesday.

The “global call-to-action” single was written by Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warner, and the list of all-female vocalists also features Jadagrace and YouTube stars Chloe & Halle.
The girl-power chorus chants, “This is for my girls / all around the world / Stand up with your head up.”
“It’s kind of like ‘We Are the World’ meets ‘Lady Marmalade’ with these strong voices and strong women,” Warren told Billboard. “When was the last time you heard a song like this or a record that had this many amazing divas on it? I’m really proud.”
The First Lady praised the “amazing artists” who recorded the song, adding, “You don’t have to have a Grammy to make a difference here (I can’t even carry a tune). “
She suggested organizing a fun run, battle of the bands, trivia contest or costume party to raise money and awareness for women’s empowerment.
“Girls around the world are counting on you to step up and act,” she wrote.
