If Michael Jordan has learned anything from his decades spent frequenting casinos, it’s knowing when to fold ‘em.
The Hall of Famer ended any talk of a million dollar one-on-one showdown with Grizzlies owner Robert Pera Wednesday, dismissing the idea with one word: “Comical.”
“I think that’s comical,” Jordan told the Charlotte Observer. “It didn’t make any sense. Why would I play one-on-one? It’s a no-win situation for me no matter what.”
Well, so much for that.
Pera intimated on Twitter earlier in the week that he’d like to face Jordan — after his one-on-one challenge with his own player, Toney Allen, fell through — with $1 million for charity on the line. The 34-year-old billionaire even shared video of himself working on his jumper, which clearly did nothing to impress MJ.
When his followers first suggested he challenge fellow techie-turned-owner Mark Cuban, Pera scoffed and said if he was going to play another owner, he wanted Jordan.
Now that he’s 0-for-2, maybe Pera can just skip the game and make his donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital without the sideshow.
Mofos aint seeing Mike!
