Megan Thee Stallion was named the host of the 2024 Video Music Awards ceremony it will be the “Hot Girl” performer’s first time emceeing a major award show She previously co-hosted Saturday Night Live and landed acting roles in the television series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, and the film D**ks: The Musical. “Music’s most iconic night has found the most iconic host,” announced a voiceover clip uploaded to the award show Instagram the rapper’s trending “Mamushi” plays in the background. “Megan Thee Stallion is bringing the heat, the body, and all the savagery and now she’s bringing ‘Hot Girl Summer’ to the VMAs.” The 29-year-old rapper is also nominated across five categories this year, including “Best Collaboration” with tour mate GloRilla and “Best Hip Hop,” for “BOA”, the same category she last won in 2020 for her chart-topping record “Savage.” She is also up for Best Direction, Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction. The 2024 VMAs air live from UBS Arena in Elmont, NY. on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Announced performers include Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, LISA, Rauw Alejandro & Sabrina Carpenter. Katy Perry will be honored with the coveted Video Vanguard Award.
