A judge has rejected Meek Mill’s request to get out of jail early, which was submitted through his lawyers.
The rapper has been in jail since July 11 after violating the terms of probation rooted in a 2009 gun conviction.
The judge rejected a request to have an emergency hearing that was an effort to get the 27-year-old rapper out of jail.
“All I’m asking for is a hearing to learn why [his jailing] is constitutional and they won’t even give me that,” Meeks lawyer, Christopher Warren, said yesterday. “The last thing I want to do is go running to another judge to tell another judge what to do. But we have no choice,”
Meek will have to file a request through his lawyers that will have the court go to a higher level judge to override the original judge’s deception.
Defense lawyers for Meek intend to argue that Meek didn’t receive advance notice of the previous infractions.
