Though his mentor and label boss Rick Ross is embroiled in one of the most high profile beefs in hip hop with Young Jeezy, Meek Mill says he's determined to stay out of the fray. In a recent interview with Mr. Peter Parker, the Philadelphia native said that where he's from, beef is not something you play around with.
"I don't participate in none of that," he said of the Ross/Jeezy rivalry. "Me, I advise them to chill before somebody gets killed and they be having ten rappers on a song talking about making the rest in peace tribute."
Meek said he's seen how words can turn to violence and that he would much rather focus on business.
"I've seen bad things in my hood. I know kids that, in the middle of a battle, start shooting over a battle rap…it makes no sense. It's senseless. It might not even be one of them, it might be their homies. We come from senseless places where senseless people do crazy things, so if it ain't about no money, I ain't [involved]."
Meek's major label debut, Dreams and Nightmares, hit stores this week.
