Meek Mill Backs Out Of Prison Reform Panel Over Donald Trump Meeting

Meek Mill was scheduled to speak on a prison reform panel but withdrew at the last minute when news of his meeting with President Donald Trump outshined the panel’s goals.

“I was originally scheduled to be part of a panel on prison reform at the White House to help shed light on the issues within the system,” Mill told Page Six on Friday. “Unfortunately, the focus turned to the president and myself, which concerned me that it might take away from creating a positive result from today’s discussions.

“As a result, I decided not to attend so the focus would be solely on fixing our prison system. Most importantly I remain fully committed to improving our criminal justice system.”

Mill was released from prison on April 24 after it was revealed the officer who arrested him back in 2007 was on a secret DA’s list of allegedly corrupt cops. The rapper’s release came after an outcry from many public figures, including Jay-Z and Kevin Hart, after Meek was harshly sentenced to two to four years in jail for a minor probation violation.

At the time of his release, Meek told Page Six via his attorney Joe Tacopinio, “Although I’m blessed to have the resources to fight this unjust situation, I understand that many people of color across the country don’t have that luxury and I plan to use my platform to shine a light on those issues.”
