MATTHEW KNOWLES TALKS ABOUT BEING BANNED FROM RADIO ONE!

While getting all artists banned by one of the country’s biggest radio station networks might be a matter of great concern for anyone, it turns out to be an opportunity for Matthew Knowles, whose artists were banned from Radio One for allegedly distributing copyrighted material to other networks including MTV.

When journalists approached him to know what he’s planning to do now, he called it as an opportunity to expand.

In an interview with EUR, Knowles said that his company has learned that it wasn’t a good idea to “put a lot of eggs in one basket.”

Now that he’s learned his lesson, he will develop relationship with other radio networks. He admitted that he didn’t on other networks as much as he should.

When asked about the ban, Matthew says:

“I leave that to attorneys to handle this part of it. I think for me and my 20 years in the music industry…whenever situations like this come, I look at them as opportunities, an opportunity that this has allowed for Music World Gospel to really understand better the landscape to build those relationships at radio with the other different affiliates, like Sheridan and Clear Channel and many others.”

Matthew added saying that he’s been in gospel since 2002 with their first gold album. However, he commented that people don’t know the history, which is unfortunate. He also confessed that Music World was totally focused on gospel but at the same time he’s proud to see his label still around in its 10th year in the gospel industry as the 5th largest gospel record label in America.
