Marie Osmond Takes A Shot At Oprah And Weight Watchers

Marie Osmond may have one-upped Oprah Winfrey in the battle of the bulge.

The singer and Las Vegas performer — she stars in a show with her famous brother, Donnie, at the Flamingo — boasted on Tuesday that she’s lost 50 pounds using Nutrisystem — and has been able to keep them off over the 10 years she has been a company pitchwoman.

Osmond’s boast seemed aimed squarely at Winfrey and her Weight Watchers program. The TV mogul last month moved the company’s stock when she announced she had lost 40 pounds over 14 months.

The December-January months are key to weight-loss companies as folks make New Year’s resolutions to get thinner — and turn to the companies for help.

Winfrey has been very visible on TV the last two weeks as Weight Watchers has amped up its latest market push. Osmond and Nutrisystem were not about to miss an opportunity to get its message out there.

“Marie has been with us for a long time,” Nutrisystem Chief Executive Dawn Zier told The Post. “She’s kept the weight off and had a lot of success.”

Ouch. That too seemed to be aimed at Winfrey and her yo-yo dieting.

Osmond may have the upper hand when it comes to the stock performance of Nutrisystem.

The company, worth $1 billion, has seen its shares rise more than 60 percent over the past 12 months, to $35.10 at Tuesday’s close.

Shares of Weight Watchers, a $700 million company, are down more than 50 percent over the same span, to $11.08.
