Mariah Carey Set To Join ‘Empire’

A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a new billionaire boyfriend, sold out shows in Las Vegas, and now a hit show: Mariah Carey is doing big things!

"Empire" co-creator Lee Daniels announced Wednesday that the musical diva would be joining the cast of the Fox series for its season 2 return in Sept., The Guardian reports.

"Watch her on Empire, you guys," he said told thousands of cheering fans before Carey was presented with the star. "She's coming on Empire."

The 45-year-old singer will join a star-studded cast including Alicia Keys, Chris Rock, and Lenny Kravitz, who made headlines this week for a very different reason when he ripped his trousers on stage and accidently showed his manhood to thousands of fans in Sweden.

Daniels didn't give any further details about Carey's role in the show, but the network is scheduled to divulge more information at the television critics' panel on Thursday.

The "We Belong Together" singer joining the series is a reunion of sorts as she's previously worked with Daniels on the films "The Butler" and his two-time Academy Award-nominated movie "Precious."
