While Mariah Carey is discovering the art of letting go of new music fans will have to wait to hear what's next from the veteran songstress.
The former "American Idol" judge announced via Twitter Monday that her 13th studio album, "The Art of Letting Go," will not be released on July 23 as previously scheduled.
"While making this album, I got so immersed in the creative process that I just don't feel I would be doing it justice to release it on 7/23," she tweeted.
Although the musical diva did not indicate when the project would appear, she further explained, "I'd rather not exclude meaningful songs. I want to give you this album as it's meant to be heard. When I'm ready, you'll be the first 2 know!"
Fans may question exactly when that will be as Carey has indicated dropping new music since before the birth of her twins, Moroccan and Monroe, in 2011. Around that time, her husband, Nick Cannon, also hinted she'd be releasing new music soon.
"She's been working away and we have a studio in the crib, and (the pregnancy) has totally inspired her on so many different levels," he told Billboard magazine at the time. "You're definitely gonna see some new phenomenal music from Mariah."
But the fact that her newest single "#Beautiful," which was released in early June and features Grammy Award-winner Miguel, only reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, could be indication as to why she's decided to hold off from releasing the full album.
In comparison, her last album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," in 2009 hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200, was certified Gold and included the single "Obsessed," which debuted at No. 11 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
Regardless of when Carey's new album will drop, she presses on with creating the anticipation of it. The "We Belong Together" singer is scheduled to perform at the BET Awards on Sunday. She will also sing alongside former "The Voice" coach Usher at the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular.
Although no dates have been announced yet for Carey's impending world tour, scheduled to set off in October, it may be an indication that devotees won't have to wait too much longer to hear her new album
