Ludacris has an opinion on why Atlanta-bred artists must headline the upcoming Super Bowl pre-concert series.
While Maroon 5 is set to perform at the halftime show, an official pre-Bowl concert will feature local stars. Among them are Ludacris and Migos.
“We are the Motown of the south and have been really dominant in music for quite some time,” Ludacris told Forbes about participating in the pre-Bowl shows.
The “Fast & Furious” star, 41, believes people know that Atlanta holds a wealth of great talent. “People that are from Atlanta should be involved in this process somehow,” he adds. “It’s one thing for the Super Bowl to not involve any Atlanta artists. It’s another thing for people to see Atlanta artists perform. It’s pretty straightforward and pretty understandable.”
Maroon 5’s casting as half-time show performers has been met with much backlash. In September, rapper Waka Flocka Flame told TMZ, “I think for the Super Bowl you should have someone from Atlanta representing Atlanta. Just because the Super Bowl’s here so we could give them that spice.”
Joining Maroon 5 on Super Bowl Sunday will be Cardi B, Bruno Mars, Aerosmith and more.
While the pre-Bowl concert series before the big kick-off appears to be easing some concerns, the commercials may also have a lack of talent.
Amy Schumer skipped out on acting an in ad in support of football player turned activist Colin Kaepernick. Rihanna also turned down the halftime gig in support of Kaepernick.
