A flare-up of flatulence has left two Ohio teens banished to a gaseous gulag.
The pair of 13-year-olds were booted off their school bus for a week after a boorish bout of breaking wind on Friday, much to the amusement of their classmates.
Officials at the Canal Winchester Middle School outside of Columbus ruled that the boys had violated the code of conduct by making "obscene gestures."
Their parents say they are amazed their sons were met with such pungent punishment.
"It's very laughable, that's what it is," father James Nichols told The Columbus Dispatch. "When it happens, it just happens. It's not intentional."
He felt the school had gone to considerable lengths to find a crime to fit the punishment.
"Obscene gesture?" Nichols wondered. "I wouldn't call him an angel, but for passing gas on the bus?"
