LOL! DENZEL WASHINGTON SAY'S HE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR THE CAB ON HIS FIRST DATE!

Denzel Washington has learned a thing or two since the '70s - like always carry cab fare. The Hollywood royal was honored with the Prince Rainier III Award at the Princess Grace Awards Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street on Wednesday. Before Princess Caroline of Hanover presented him with the award, Washington and his wife, Pauletta, recounted by video how he came up short when it was time to pay for a taxi they took to a party on their first date.
Later, Pauletta expounded to us that she had expected to take the subway, but that Denzel suggested they cab it. When they arrived at their destination, she recalled, "He didn't have the money, and I had to pay!"

Washington quietly listened to his wife of 27 years recount the experience. But when she arrived at the punch line, he flashed his million-dollar smile and protested, "I had some of the money!"
