Nick Cannon is nothing more than "a Ryan Seacrest clone."
That's just one of the insults that Power 105.1 deejay Charlamagne Tha God has hurled at Mariah Carey's husband in what promises to be an escalating war of words - and rhymes - between the two rival radio jocks.
Charlamagne, a member of Power 105.1's morning show "The Breakfast Club," tells us he's taken it upon himself to put Cannon, who hosts the 92.3 NOW morning show, in his place for "terrible" rap skills.
In his latest salvo, Charlamagne debuted a diss record on his show Tuesday morning that dropped a number of clever bombs on Cannon.
Performing as his alter ego Lil Young Shorty on the song "W.O.W.O.W.," Charlamagne raps:
"You're a guest in Mariah's home/a Ryan Seacrest clone/your rap career is wrong/Nobody likes your songs/You suck on the microphone, Nick Cannon's wack on wack on wack."
Charlamagne says his beef isn't personal.
"He's a great entrepreneur, great person, but he's a horrible rapper," says the "Breakfast Club" jock.
Charlamagne first took aim at Cannon's rap skills on Sept. 27.
After listening to the "America's Got Talent" emcee's new hip-hop track "I Remember," Charlamagne declared Cannon "quite possibly the wackest rapper alive" and named him "Donkey of the Day."
"Rapping is the one thing Nick loves to do, but his money can't buy it for him," Charlamagne says. "It definitely bothers him when somebody tells him that he can't rap."
Cannon did not take long to respond. Rhyming over the Uncle Murda track "Warning," he fired back at Charlamagne - and longtime nemesis Eminem - with his own diss track that landed on the Web.
"Charlamagne made girls cry, so who's the donkey of the day?/Man, you about as gay as d- pics/ I'm on mansion number six by the time you get rich," Cannon rhymed in response.
Charlamagne says he expects Cannon - who's put out two full-length albums since 2003 - to "come back at me with something else."
Just don't expect the Power 105.1 deejay to retaliate. He says that belaboring the point would come off as "corny." Charlamagne also admits he has no real rapping skills, but says he's still "better than Nick."
We reached out to Cannon's rep, but our request for comment was not returned before deadline.
