A Queens spa owner has been charged with nearly killing a woman during a botched butt enhancement, and prosecutors think there may be more victims.
Barbara Nieto, 27, was charged Friday with assault, unlawfully practicing medicine and endangering the life of customer Augusta Velez.
Velez, 23, went to Nieto's Perfect Image Stethics in Corona on March 20 to have fat removed from her stomach and injected into her buttocks, Queens prosecutors say. She was told to return for massage sessions, but days later was knocked flat by intense pain and high fever. Within a week of the $500 procedure, Velez had abscesses on her rear end and needed surgery to avoid a life-threatening septic infection.
Nieto, who could not be reached for comment, also operates Bell Stetika Esthetics in Elmhurst.
In December, a Queens woman sued Bell Stetika, claiming she suffered disabling injuries following a 2007 procedure to augment her buttocks.
