Lloyd Banks says his club smash "Beamer, Benz, or Bentley" (and its remix) — is just the setup. Banks has a lot more material in the cooker.
"This is gonna pave the way for my official second single," Banks told MTV News last week. "We're gonna hit it right on summer at the beginning. That's gonna take us through the summer. I got the 50 Cent tour coming up; I'm gonna be on that joint. The first show is in Cleveland [on Friday]. But they can expect that [single] within a couple of weeks. We gonna let the remix bubble through Memorial Day weekend. They can also expect a new record from Tony Yayo as well. We gotta make this a G-Unit summer.
"My last album came out, I believe, October of '06," he continued. "I just been so eager to get out there and give the people what they expect from Lloyd Banks. If they think 'Beamer, Benz, or Bentley' is it, wait until you hear my second and third official single. It's definitely gonna be crazy."
His G-Unit partner Tony Yayo just put out his 50 Cent-featured "Pass the Patrón," but Banks said he isn't sure if 50 will drop a summertime song of his own.
"I know he's got the Black Magic album he's working on with Governor," Lloyd said. "Anything is possible; there's no rules. At this point, I've been moving as independent artists [do]. ... I don't know how fast that status will change or if that will be the outcome of everything and now we push forward. But for the moment, there's no rules, so you can kind of do whatever you want. There's no computer I have to wait in line for. If we feel that passionate about a record, we can press play, and move with it. [The same goes for] 50 Cent. We all gonna be out there. I think it'll be a beautiful thing to have two or three records bubbling from the same camp."
The Unit are independent, but maybe not for long. They're apparently closing in on a new home to distribute their music.
"We're very close," Banks confirmed. So close I want to tell you something now, but I don't want to ruffle no feathers," he added. "I don't want to get anybody nervous. It's gonna complement what we been doing, the hard work we been doing. It's gonna give us the international platform."
