Lizzo Scores Win Over Lawsuit By Singer's Ex-Stylist Tossed Out Of Court

Lizzo has scored a legal win after a secret recording undermined a case against her from former dancers. In the sexual harassment lawsuit brought by dancers Arianna Davis, Noelle Rodriguez, and Crystal Williams, part of their claims were that Lizzo fat-shamed them. Speaking to TMZ, Lizzo’s attorney Marty Singer and his partner Melissa Glass insisted that the allegations lacked merit — and that 18 witnesses refuted them in court. The attorneys allege that Davis was fired because she made an “an unauthorized recording of Lizzo in a dancer meeting and sent it to Williams, who was no longer working on The Special Tour," and now the accusers have dropped their appeal of the dismissal of the fat-shaming claims. The Superior Court judge in the case concluded that Davis being fired was justified because of her secret recordings the three dancers’ attorney, Ronald Zambrano, said, "We are maintaining that Judge Epstein was correct in his ruling denying Lizzo's special motion to strike the vast majority of claims they attacked, including false imprisonment and harassment. Of the couple of claims Judge Epstein did dismiss, the plaintiffs have taken a considered approach to leave that be. One would hope to see the same level of intellectual honesty and neutral assessment from the defendants, but that hasn’t been the case thus far and it’s disappointing." Though the fat-shaming claims are off of the table, Lizzo has other accusations that she’s still facing in the case. In their lawsuit against her, the women claimed that the singer pressured them to interact with naked sex performers at Bananenbar in Amsterdam, where patrons eat bananas out of the vaginas of the performers. Lizzo has denied the claims through her legal team, and they say that they remain “confident she will prevail in the case.” In a 2024 interview with Keke Palmer, LIzzo said that she was “blindsided” by the lawsuit.
