A microphone mishap during an 8-year-old Virginia girl's "Star Spangled Banner" performance at a hockey game has turned into a YouTube hit.
When Elizabeth Hughes' mic died in the middle of the national anthem last weekend before a Norfolk Admirals game, the little girl got a boost from the fans who sang loudly along with her for the rest of the song.
She had just belted out the lyrics "bombs bursting in air" when the sound system went silent.
As of Friday, more than 2.5 million people have viewed the video of Hughes.
"We're just basking in her 15 minutes of fame," Ralph Hughes, Elizabeth's father, said.
He said the family has received requests to be on CBS' "The Early Show" and "Inside Edition."
"Everything is happening pretty fast, just from that moment," Hughes said.
Elizabeth will get a second crack at singing the national anthem next month, The Virginian-Pilot reported.
