Lil Wayne has made it clear that he no longer wants to work with Birdman, yet it doesn’t seem like their “partnership” will end anytime soon. Not long ago, Wayne dropped a verse for the introduction of Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe’s brand new show on FS1 “Undisputed.” Earlier today (Sept. 23), the Young Money CEO released the theme song as his new single called “No Mercy.”
Lil Wayne’s disdain for the contract agreement he has with Cash Money Records is no secret. We all remember when Tunechi’s Twitter timeline was filled frustrated tweets about the stalled release of Tha Carter V, which led to the legal battle he waged against the Cash Money Records Founder nearly two years ago.
Wayne tried his luck with Tidal when he released his Free Weezy album last year, however Cash Money has since retaliated with their own lawsuit against the streaming service. During his recent interview with Skip and Shannon, Wayne admitted that he only teased his retirement in a fit of rage caused by Birdman, and said he never wants to work with him again.
Weezy’s latest release, along with his “Grateful” record, may be one of the greater singles he’s released this year, however it’s another depressing sign that Wayne is nowhere close to being in control of his music.
