Lil Wayne Picks A Side In Drake Kendrick Lamar Beef

Lil Wayne has chosen a side in the storied Drake–Kendrick Lamar feud—sort of. During a recent show, Weezy performed his verse on Drake’s 2011 hit song, “The Motto.” As the song approached his part, the New Orleans emcee changed some of the lyrics, drawing on Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.”Wayne held up his OVO chain while he rapped the chorus to K. Dot’s scathing Drake/OVO diss. The gesture was a bit confusing to fans who couldn’t decipher what Wayne was attempting to do in that moment. Other fans claimed that Weezy didn’t rap “not like us” but instead, “they don’t like us.” Select accounts in the viral video’s comment section hypothesized what would happen if Wayne sent a couple of shots at Kendrick Lamar. “One lighter flick and it would be over for Kendrick lol,” a fan typed. “Lil Wayne can rap, but I don’t think he’s on Kendricks’s level. Kendrick comes back outside it’s over for all these rappers acting bothered…including Wayne and Drake,” another fan surmised. “Media blogs pushing a false narrative af..Wayne clearly saying ‘They don’t like us,'” an IG account asserted. “Drake fans just praying Wayne would help Aubrey,” a subsequent account joked. Wayne’s intentions are unclear at best, it’s difficult to think he didn’t have an opinion on a song that mentions him. Kendrick Lamar name-dropped Weezy in “Not Like Us” as he painted a picture of Drake being untrustworthy and opportunistic. “Might write this for the doctorate, tell the pop star, ‘Quit hidin’/ F**k a caption, want action, no accident, and I’m hands-on/ He f**k around, get polished/ F**ked on Wayne girl while he was in jail, that’s connivin’/ Then get his face tatted like a bi**h apologizin’,” K. Dot spit. The incident Kendrick appears to be referencing occurred in 2010. After Wayne was hauled off to prison, Drake had sexual relations with his then-partner, model, and actress Tammy Torres. Lil Wayne would famously address the then-rumors in his songs “6 Foot 7 Foot” (H*es gon be h*es, so I couldn’t blame Tammy”) and “How to Hate” (“She used to always say, f**k my ni**as/ And when I went to jail, she f**ked my ni**as/ Well, I guess I’m single for the night”). He would then address what happened with Tammy and Drake in full in his 2016 prison diary, Gone’ Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island. “I woke up still feeling f**ked up about the f**ked-up day that I had. Hell is what it was! I’m used to arguing with my girl [daily], but finding out that she f**ked Drake was the absolute worst thing I could’ve found out.
