IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Lil Uzi Vert may not be done with music after all, but he is frustrated by it.

Days after he claimed he was quitting music, the 24-year-old posted a video to social media (via Hot New Hip-Hop) saying he wants to release music but his label won’t let him.

After claiming he’d been trying to put out something new, Uzi said, ”You think I don’t wanna drop music? You just gotta understand when people don’t love you, they’ll hold your life if you sign a motherf—king … Hold that s–t against you.”

The “New Patek” rapper also compared signing a record deal with snitching, explaining, ”And that go for the streets too. You ain’t supposed to sign no mother–king paper in the streets because that’s rattin’. So why the f–k I even sign this s–t as a deal. Motherf–king set myself up. What other way was I suppose to let this s–t go? S–t, it be all good at first just like them motherf–king rats.”

On Friday, Uzi took a break from posting pictures of himself miserable yet stylish on Instagram, to use to announce he was done with music.

In a post to his Instagram story that particularly concerned fans, he wrote, “I wanna take the time out to say I thank each and every one of my supports, but I’m done with music. I deleted everything. I wanna be normal… I wanna wake up in 2013.”

Though it may now not see the light of the day, the rapper’s eagerly anticipated “Eternal Atake” album was the subject of controversy in the fall, after surviving members of the Heaven’s Gate cult criticized Uzi for the album’s proposed artwork which appeared to be heavily inspired by the visual aesthetic of death cult’s still-functioning website.
