Less than 24 hours after turning himself in to police custody in Atlanta, the city's WSB-TV reports that Lil Durk has been denied bond.
The rapper believes he's innocent of the five felony charges leveled against him. Speaking to the local news outlet in an interview conducted in his lawyer's office just before he turned himself in to Fulton County Jail on Thursday (May 30), Durk kept it straight to the point. "I have nothing to hide. I have nothing to run from," Durk said when asked why he was choosing to surrender to police.
Durk also reveals that he actually learned there was a warrant for his arrest while he was on tour. He subsequently canceled the remainder of his tour and flew to Atlanta to surrender to police. His legal team is currently working to set up a bond so he can be released from Fulton County Jail.
The rhymer has been booked on charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault (shooting at), unlawful for person employed by/associated with criminal street gang to conduct/participate in criminal gang activity, possession of firearm during commission of a felony (vgcsa) and possession of firearm by convicted felon.
All of the above charges stem from a Feb. 5 shooting outside Atlanta's The Varsity restaurant. A 23-year-old man was found shot at the scene, but he survived the shooting. On May 17, Durk's OTF affiliate King Von was arrested and booked for the same charges as Durk for the same incident.
Before he surrendered to authorities in Georgia, Durk dropped a new song to address his legal issues. On "Turn Myself In," Durk apologizes to his friends and family while he reflects on the wild lifestyle he's lived thus far.
