Lil Baby Arrested For Reckless Driving In Atlanta

Rapper Lil Baby (born Dominique Jones) was arrested by Georgia State Patrol officers on Thursday evening (Feb. 7) on charges of failure to use a turn signal, reckless driving and eluding police.

According to an incident report provided to Billboard by the GSP, a trooper stopped at a red light at around 6:05 p.m. on Thursday saw Jones' orange Corvette failing to signal while changing lanes, and then increasing in speed and "passing vehicles in a reckless manner in a high pedestrian area."

After the Corvette passed the officer, he flipped on his lights and began pursuit, at which point the report says the driver "began weaving between cars at a high rate of speed." As the trooper caught up, the Corvette got caught in heavy traffic, even as the driver reportedly tried to accelerate and change lanes unsuccesfully.

The trooper then "exited his patrol car and began giving verbal commands to the driver, to which the driver complied, got out of the vehicle and laid on the ground." At that point, Jones was taken into custody without incident, even as a crowd began to gather around the incident site.

A spokesperson for Jones -- who made a splash at Super Bowl LIII earlier this week when he arrived at the game in a helicopter -- did not respond to comment at press time. The GSP statement siad that Jones, 24, was transported to Atlanta Pretrial and turned over to the detention staff without incident.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jones posted bond and was released from custody on Thursday night.

A video of the incident appears to show an officer cuffing the rapper as he lays on his stomach on outside the orange vehicle.
