Leonardo DiCaprio Compares Climate Change To Slavery

Someone throw Leonardo DiCaprio a life boat.

The fervent environmental activist believes climate change is a Titanic-sized crisis — so urgent, he compared it to slavery.

The controversial remarks came during an impassioned speech the Oscar-winning actor delivered at the United Nations on Friday, in which he reflected on teachings from Abraham Lincoln.

“He was speaking before the U.S. Congress to confront the defining issue of his time: slavery,” DiCaprio, a United Nations Messenger of Peace, said.

“Remarkably, his words ring as true today when applied to the defining crisis of our time: climate change,” he declared.

The unnecessary comparison did not garner a reaction from the crowd.

The actor, who played a slave owner in “Django Unchained,” has frequently shined the spotlight on his favorite topic of climate change — which he most memorably did while finally nabbing his gold statue in February.

"Climate change is real it’s happening right now. It’s the most urgent threat facing our entire species,” he said in his Academy Award acceptance speech.

The 41-year-old echoed the comments as he addressed the UN on Earth Day, before the signing ceremony for the Paris agreement climate change accord.

He reminded delegates they are “the last best hope” in fixing the effects of global warming.

“The Revenant” star concluded the fiery speech by circling back to the 16th president.

“Lincoln's words still resonate to all of us here today: 'We will be remembered in spite of ourselves,'” he said.
