IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Lauryn Hill has a lot to be thankful for.

The 38-year-old singer will return to the stage on Thanksgiving Eve at Bowery Ballroom in New York City, reports NJ.com. This will be Hill's first performance since beginning her three-month prison stint in a Danbury, Conn., jail in July for tax evasion. She was released on Oct. 4.

"I can confirm she was released, and she's doing well," her attorney Lou Nathan Hochman told the Daily News at the time. "Her court case is now 100 percent done. She has one year of supervised release, and then she'll be completely done."

Furthermore, the former Fugees member was given permission to postpone her house arrest in order to commence with tour dates. Hochman confirmed Hill is allowed to tour from Nov. 15 to Dec. 31, according to the court order signed by Judge Madeline Cox Arleo.

However, she'll start out the New Year on house arrest as her home-confinement sentencing will begin on January 1.

The mother of six children with Rohan Marley, Bob Marley's son, definitely knows how to time things correctly in her musical career. Her latest single "Consumerism" was released on her Tumblr page the day before she got out of federal prison. It is now available on iTunes.

"I felt the need to discuss the underlying socio-political, cultural paradigm as I saw it," she said in a statement about the latest track.

Prior to that, the South Orange, N.J., native released "Neurotic Society Compulsory Mix," a few days before her sentencing, which was the Grammy Award-winner's first single in years. Her last successful project was her first solo album in 1998, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill," which earned her five Grammys.

But Hill initially shot to fame as the sole female member of the Fugees with Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel. She was already two Grammys in with the group before breaking off on her own.

Throughout the years her fan base has proved loyal to Hill and it was no different during her legal woes. She wrote a heartfelt note of thanks to her devotees while serving her time in prison.

"Although it has taken some adjustment, I cannot deny the favor I have encountered while in here, and general warm reception from a community of people who despite their circumstances, have found unique ways to make the best of them," her team posted on her behalf to her Tumblr page in July.

"Although I may not be able to write everyone back, please know that they have been received, read, acknowledged, and appreciated. With Love back, MLH."

Even though Hill must disclose all details pertaining to tour dates, cities, and hotels to her probation officer, it's certain fans anticipate her touching down on stage.

I want the old L-Boogie back! That Marley ni**a really f**ked her up!
