Landlords are trying to evict Lamar Odom’s children and their mother from their posh Manhattan apartment because the former basketball star has refused to cough up child support, a new lawsuit alleges.
Liza Morales, who had two children with the NBA great, claimed in a lawsuit filed late Thursday in Manhattan Supreme Court that Odom completely stopped paying child support last June and has been violating their 2015 agreement for the last six years, records allege.
The pair have long quarreled with each other over their shared children, custody agreements and child support issues and have both brought lawsuits against each other over the last decade.
According to the pair’s custody arrangement, Odom is required to pay about $6,000 a month in child support, along with college fees and a premium for a $9 million life insurance plan but for nearly a year, he’s been delinquent, Morales alleged.
“In June 2020, Lamar stopped providing any support save for sporadic amounts sent directly to LJ, placing their son in a very difficult situation,” Morales alleged in a civil complaint.
Odom, who was previously married to Khloe Kardashian and has struggled with drug abuse, made millions in his basketball career, has a large NBA pension and is due to make more than $40,000 from an upcoming celebrity boxing match against Aaron Carter, the records say.
A rep for Odom told The Post he has “both publicly and privately tried to resolve the issue with Morales.”
“Before Lamar signed up to do the docuseries on his recovery a year and a half ago and the Celebrity Boxing match, he coordinated deals for Morales to be financially stable during that period. He knew that Morales was seeking her own position in the industry, so he helped her gain an offer with a sponsor close to $100,000. Morales decided to want more and damaged the deal, while refusing any more help before he went away,” the rep said.
“During the past year and a half Odom knew he had to step away from work in order to get his mental health and addiction in order. Odom loves his children and wants them to see their father win a difficult battle. Lamar knows he owes it to his children and community to get better in order to continue to be a provider.”
Morales, a mainstay on VH1’s hit reality show “Basketball Wives,” claimed Odom’s “unilateral stoppage of all support” has resulted in eviction proceedings being brought against her and her children.
She alleged in court papers she can’t foot the $5,125 monthly rent bill for her 75 West Street apartment in Lower Manhattan that she shares with both kids since Odom stopped paying.
Morales pointed to a recent appearance Odom made on Wendy Williams in February where he claimed he does pay child support for his son and will continue to do so but Morales makes enough money via her appearances on “Basketball Wives,” the records show.
“These assertions are not true,” the records allege.
Further, the fashion designer mom claimed her son was unable to attend a four-year college and instead had to resort to community college because of the stopped payments, the records claim.
Court records show J Hill Associates brought eviction proceedings against Morales in December alleging she owed nearly $50,000 in back rent, plus interest, since February 2020.
In her lawsuit against Odom, she claimed that figure has now ballooned to about $78,000 and she’s seeking close to $200,000 in “immediate relief.”
