La La Anthony Designs Plus-Size Fashion Collection

La La Anthony is adding another line to her résumé: fashion designer.

The “Power” actress, 36, has teamed up with plus-size retailer Ashley Stewart to design a capsule collection in sizes 12 through 32.

When designing the collection, which includes jeans ($78), dresses ($128) and a suede jumpsuit ($120), Anthony said she was inspired by what’s already in her closet. “[My inspiration was] the same thing I imagine for myself: wanting to feel sexy, wanting to feel confident. Just getting up-to-date styles that make women feel really good,” Anthony told Page Six Style at the launch event for the collection at the Ashley Stewart store in Harlem, New York.

“These clothes can take you from day to play to slay; I love that because you want to have an outfit that can do that and all you have to do is take a jacket off or add a jacket,” she added.

Kim Kardashian’s BFF counts a cropped sherpa jacket ($120), cargo pants with built-in corset ($78) and a black and white sweat suit ($64 for pants, $74 for cropped hoodie) as some of her favorite pieces from the collection. She explained that her personal style covers tomboy fashion as well as veering on the side of edgy, so she wanted to capture her personal sensibility in the line.

Though La La often steals the scene as Lakeisha Grant on “Power,” Anthony also became an instant meme with her portrayal of Kiki in Drake’s “In My Feelings” music video. Though Drake had input into her sexy red two-piece, Anthony said it was a real collaboration between them.

“We did [the costumes] together because we knew we wanted it to feel like old school, being in like high school or college and wanting to go out with your friends,” she explained.

Later, it was a popular couples costume for Halloween in 2018. “That was so crazy!” Anthony admits. “Honestly, I didn’t think that outfit would make that much of a stir that people would want to duplicate it for Halloween.”

As for this holiday season, Anthony is going to keep it low-key; while rumors swirl that she has reconciled with estranged husband Carmelo Anthony, La La told us she is staying in her native New York City for the first time in years.
