Russell Simmons had good intentions when took to Twitter to dismiss claims that his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons was dating rapper Birdman.
But his goodwill sparked a whole new frenzy as he revealed she's married.
"All of us love @OfficialKimora but the fact is she is happily married," he tweeted Wednesday. "Tim has been family for a while now. #gossipcop…."
The Tim he's referring to is investment banker Tim Leissner, who according to Simmons, 56, is now married to the 38-year-old fashion designer and mother of his two children -- Ming, 13, and Aoki, 10.
"Oh. And … Tim is not Russian. Lol," the Def Jam Records co-founder added.
While Lee and Leissner have been seen together as a couple publicly -- he vacationed in St. Barts in December with Lee, Simmons and their children -- their reported marriage has never been exposed.
This is not the first time the hip-hop mogul has stepped in to defend his ex-wife from rumors about her love life. In 2012 he addressed speculations that there was trouble in paradise between Lee and the actor Dijimon Hounsou, 49.
"Kimora and Dijimon are fine," he wrote on his website Global Grind at the time.
Shortly after, the "Blood Diamond" actor's rep released a statement about their split.
"Dijimon Hounsou and Kimora Lee Simmons have officially separated after 5 ½ years," the rep told People at the time. "Though never married, they have one child together, Kenzo Lee Hounsou, who is 3 ½ years old."
It's not known exactly when the former Baby Phat creative director first began dating Leissner as she's appeared to be living the single life since her romance with Hounsou ended.
"Relationships do change throughout the course of your life, and I always think in terms of relationships changing and evolving rather than starting and stopping," she told Us Weekly in March.
She was momentarily linked to heavyweight boxer Malik "King" Scott but shot down those rumors.
"I'm not with anyone at the moment," she said. "It's just my kids and their two dads, I guess."
If Simmons, who was married to Lee from 1998 to 2009, got it right this time around then the model is now a bride for a second time.
"People might be mad I'm saying this, but (men) do have a lot of hang ups," she added to Us.
"But that shouldn't deter you ladies from being great!" Lee advised. "You don't have to dumb down -- you just have to find a clever, good, secure man. I've found a couple -- I've been lucky -- but it's probably hard for everybody to find that true love of a good man."
