Kelis doesn’t need fame to feel successful.
The singer, chef, mother and entrepreneur revealed her true feelings on celebrity, specifically in the age of social media.
“Anyone who knows me knows I can take fame or leave it,” Kelis, 39, told Essence. “I can walk away from all of this and never look back. Being famous has never validated me – ever. I’ve never cared if people like me or didn’t like me. Either way, I’m cool.”
In the spring, she revealed on the “The Founder Hour” that she purchased a farm to push her food brand, Bounty and Full, forward.
It’s also where she plans to grow her own produce and make her own milk, cheese and butter.
But despite her growing business, “one of the biggest things I reiterate is self-care,” she said.
