Katt Williams Sentenced To Community Service For Low Speed Chase

Considering how it could have turned out, Katt Williams had a capital day in Sacramento, Calif.

The Scary Movie 5 star pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of evading police and was sentenced to 180 days in jail—but, 90 of those days were converted to 420 hours of community service and the other half of the term was stayed, so he remains a free man, E! News confirms.

Williams was also given three years of informal probation and ordered to report back to Sacramento Superior Court on June 14 to show proof of enrollment in a service program. He has until Feb. 7 to complete his sentence.
The 39-year-old comedian was originally charged with felony police evasion and reckless driving for leading California Highway Patrol officers on a low-speed chase from his three-wheel motorcycle on Nov. 25.
He was then arrested in January for skipping a court date pertaining to the case and released on $100,000 bail, so... Today was as good a time as any to cut his losses.

"We are pleased that he will not be incarcerated and Mr. Williams looks forward to working with the community," his attorney, Richard Schonfeld, tells E! News, adding that he plans to be working with youth-oriented organizations in L.A. County.
