Like mother, like daughter! At least that's how Katie Holmes explains 3-year-old Suri's appearance in kitten heels.
"She like every little girl - she loves my high heels," Holmes told Access Hollywood.
Controversy sparked when Suri was photographed in the heels earlier in the fall. Parent magazines and web commentators expressed concern that Suri's high-stepping could be a risk to her growth factor.
However, Holmes insisted that the glam-heels were fully supportive.
"They are actually ballroom dancing shoes for kids," she said in an interview Sunday at a Dizzy Feet Foundation event. "I found them for her and she loves them."
Holmes is a founder of Dizzy Feet alongside "So You Think You Can Dance" judges Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman as well as "Dancing with the Stars" judge Carrie Ann Inaba.
Its aim is to give underprivileged youth a foot up in realizing their dreams of becoming professional dancers.
"I've been a fan of dancing my whole life," Holmes said. "I met with Nigel and he asked if I wanted to be a part of this...in starting this."
From the podium, Holmes announced that the event generated 90,000 donations which will go toward nine student scholarships to various dance schools.
