KANYE WEST WAS NOT SCHEDULE TO PERFORM AT MTV'S VMA'S!

Kanye West won’t be at the MTV Video Music Awards - that much is true.

But contrary to a report in London’s Daily Mail, the 35-year-old rapper didn’t drop out at the last minute and was never actually scheduled to attend, his rep confirmed to the News.

The British tabloid reported that West had bailed to join his girlfriend Kim Kardashian, who’s promoting her perfume during Fashion's Night Out in New York City on Thursday night.

“Kim's in New York for her fragrance launch and Kanye didn't want to go to the VMAs if she couldn't be there,” a source told the British tabloid.

If West were to actually attend Thursday’s MTV, it would have made an even better story, marking the first time both he and country singer Taylor Swift attended the VMAs since the now infamous 2009 awards show. That’s when West barged on to the stage during Swift’s acceptance speech for the Best Female Video award, and told her Beyonce Knowles should have won the coveted astronaut statuette.

West still can make a splash at the 2012 VMAs: His song, “Mercy,” featuring Pusha T., Big Sean & 2 Chainz, is up for Best Hip Hop Video.
