Kanye West wants Will Smith to get jiggy with it again.
The “After Earth” actor recently admitted that West has “been pushing” him to return to the music scene.
“I’ve been messing around with Kanye. We were in the studio a couple of times,” Smith told HipHollywood.com.
The 44-year-old actor has come a long way since his days rhyming 1988’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand.” However, he was a successful rapper before making it to superstardom on the big screen.
Even after becoming a staple on television and in movies, Smith combined his acting and musical talents to release songs like the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and “Men In Black” themes.
In March, the actor gave students at South London’s St. Martin-in-the-Fields High School a surprise when he performed the “Bel Air” theme song. On Monday, he delighted audiences with an impromptu performance of his hit “Summertime” on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
So does this mean we’ll be hearing new music from Smith at some point in the near future?
“I might get the bug,” he added. “I’m not going to do it unless I get truly inspired, but ‘Ye’s been pushing me a little bit.”
Smith released his last album “Lost and Found” in 2005, which included his last single “Party Starter” featuring Ludacris that came out in August of that year.
