Kanye West Says Voices In His Head Told Him To Pull Grammy Stunt

Kanye West now says he stormed the Grammy stage after Beck took the top Album Grammy because of “voices in my head.”

The nut-job rapper told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Wednesday morning that “voices in my head told me ‘go’ and then I just walked.”

He says he meant the move as a joke but things turned serious after the show, when E! News asked him about his motivations.

In the Seacrest interview, West seems to blame the serious turn on E! News.

“I was given a platform,” he says. “And when given a platform, it’s very hard, as we know - and I’m going to talk in the third person like I’m a crazy person - but it’s very hard for Kanye West to not be very true and vocal to what he feels.”

In the bulk of the rambling interview, West walks back his implicit put-down of Beck.

“I think it came off the wrong way,” he insists. “That was a mis-wording on my part because obviously Beck is one of the most respected artists and respects artistry ... He’s his own man and he’s not wrong and we’ll still go play basketball and stuff [unless] he doesn’t want to do it.”

Even so, the star says he was angry because Beck didn’t mention the other stars in his category during his acceptance speech. “I felt that even though the Grammys sometimes gives awards to people who you wouldn’t think should win in the category, as a respect to artists, we mention the other artist’s names in our speech. And that was the point I was making about it.”

In another part of the bizarre interview, West likened himself to “a chiropractor.”

“ You know, you just get a little crook out like ‘Wow, this crook has been there! It’s just a little jolt of truth, right?’ And then, you know, everyone feels better after the fact,” he explains.

In fact, West thinks he did everyone a favor with his actions. “Everyone is way more famous after the fact, or everyone sells way more albums after the fact, and then Kanye just goes on being an a--hole to everyone.”

If nothing else, West’s latest stunt didn’t seem to turn off the target of his first stage-rush: Taylor Swift. West told Seacrest he and Swift would collaborate in the studio.

“We’re definitely going to go in,” he said. “I’m down to get in the studio and work.”

Even so, he couldn’t help but throw in a left-handed compliment to Swift, implying she’s not as serious an artist as he. “I don’t have an elitism about music,” he said about working with the teen-pop star. “I don’t discriminate.”

Everybody knows you not supposed to listen to them …..
